about the louie

The Louie is a lovingly restored, spacious two bedroom apartment situated in the top two floors of an 1890 shotgun home in the heart of the Marigny neighborhood of New Orleans.

We fixed up the place with an intent to honor the original beauty and history of the home, while bringing a new depth of warmth, personality and functionality to each space. The bedrooms are serene and cozy. A moody den serves as the perfect refuge from the mid-day sun (or as an extra bedroom), the living room as a stately scene for an evening sazerac, and the jasmine flanked deck as the perfect place for a cup of coffee. Each room is furnished with a mix of antique and contemporary pieces from New Orleans and around the world.

High-rise hotels and casinos don’t exist on this side of town. Instead, you'll find a laid back bohemian vibe that permeates the quaint, palm-lined streets, sidewalk cafes, and jazz clubs the Marigny is known for. The Louie is less than a 5 minute walk to Frenchman Street and Crescent Park, a 10 minute walk to the French Quarter, and a stone's throw from hundreds of incredible restaurants.

To get to New Orleans you don’t pass through anywhere else. That geographical location, being aloof, lets it hold onto the ritual of its own pace more than other places that have to keep up with the progress.

Our story

It all started years ago with a weekend jaunt to the Crescent City. 1,300 miles from our Brooklyn home base, it was a world away from any place we had ever experienced. The architecture. The po' boys. The brass bands. The people. The Spanish moss. The vibe. We were enchanted by the uniqueness and authenticity of it all.

Years (and numerous visits) later, the magnetic pull of the city brought us back. We explored new neighborhoods by bike, drank amazing cocktails, danced in second lines, and discovered our lust for New Orleans had turned into love.

A sweet double shotgun caught our eye, and before long, we were homeowners. With nothing more than a vision and a sense of adventure, we rolled up our sleeves and began to create a place where friends, family, and visitors could experience the beauty, oddity, and flavor that is uniquely New Orleans.

We'd love to share it with you.
